Ummmmm....what?????

OH MY GAWD (spoken in true Janice fashion)!! I just happened to be moderating my comments on this blog and Colleen just congratulated me on being PPP Blog of the Day. I am speechless. You like me!! You really really like me!! He he...I just want to say that I have never been part of an online community much like the one that I have found with PayPerPost. I have been a lurker on the boards since the end of November when I joined and didn't really get the guts to start posting until January. I was really welcomed with open arms. Thank you to Marcus and Suni. You guys have been extremely helpful to me in answering all my "geez I'm so embarassed to ask this on the boards so I'm going to PM Suni or Marcus" questions. You guys are the best :) I love PayPerPost and my PayPal account does too!!

Flowers, oh the flowers...
Do you still get flowers from your hubby on those special occasions? Your birthday? Your anniversary? Or do you just get the obligatory valentines day flowers? For me, there's no pattern to Bryan's flower giving. One year he'll get me flowers for my birthday, Valentine's Day, our anniversary, etc...I think he gets sick of getting flowers all the time and so goes out and makes the mad trek to the mall for some gift that I may have hinted about a couple weeks back. Personally, I love to get flowers as a gift. They make the house smell so nice and it adds a burst of color in my home. I can glance at it and be reminded of who bought them for me and it brings a smile to my face.

One thing I would love to get would be a gift basket, you know, the kind where they have all the fancy schmanzy gourmet stuff. That, I would love to get. Take this one for example:

It's the Taste of Italy Gift Basket...everything you need for an Italian meal. Oooh...perfect!! If you want one, check it out dotflowers.com!

If you're looking for a job, look into getting an Audio Resume
The best thing I love about being a Recruiter is the fact that I am able to hear what potential transcriptionists have to say about themselves and it gives me an idea of what their skills are or lack thereof. What we basically do is have a Work At Home Line phone number that potential transcriptionists can call into and they answer some general questions that we have implemented on the recording that are pertinent to us, and that way I'm easily able to weed out the ones who would not be a good fit. It makes my life a whole lot easier. So I wasn't surprised when I found a company that provides almost the same thing, an Audio Resume. You call into a toll free number provided to answer five general questions and voila...your Audio Resume is done. You're given a URL where your Audio Resume can be easily accessed so potential employers can listen to your credentials. You even have the ability to upload your picture to go along with your Audio Resume...kind of a "put a face to the name" so to speak. Check their site out to see how it works, especially if you're looking for a job. It's a great way to get yourself noticed.

What a crazy day!
Brandon was feeling better so off to school he went. I told him..no fever..then you're okay to go to school. My Dad was relentless in telling me to get Brandon to the doctor just to get checked out, even though he did not hear anything in his chest. So I made the appointment and it was scheduled for 5:00. It rained here a little bit...so it was cold and kinda blah outside. I had to leave early to pick up the kids (just the wee little bit of rain here in AZ and it drives parents mad to pick up their kids at school) because I did not want to be waiting in the parent pick up area for hours on end, so left early, grabbed my Entertainment Magazine and waited about 20 minutes in the car for them. We rushed home, had them do some homework, and then went over to my parents' house so that they could watch Maddie & Kait while I took Bran to the dr. We get back to my parents' house, eat dinner over there, and then I get Kaitlyn ready for her basketball pictures at 7:00. Run over to the where the pictures are being taken, then find no one in sight from our team. I called the Coach's wife, she didn't answer her cell phone, then tried her husband and he finally answered. They had totally forgotten about the pics and were at their other daughter's basketball team. Well only one other person showed up for the pictures so we both decided that we were going to skip out. I already have 10 sets of basketball pictures anyways for Kait so one less basketball pic believe me is not a big deal. So I get back to my parents' house and wait for Brandon to finish up a little bit of homework and we just got home about 30 minutes ago. I am beat, but I still need to finish up some of my recruiting work, like update my database and crap like that. Whew, did I just make one big runon sentence or what? It sounds like it. LOL.

PPP Puzzle Contest
Yup, another PPP puzzle contest. This time around it's a Photo Puzzle of Michelle (a PPP Postie who recently won an HP camera through a previous PPP contest) and her family. There are 48 puzzle pieces in all and the first person to find all 48 of them and assemble the completed puzzle on their blog will win $1000.

The last Photo Puzzle contest I spent hours and hours on end searching for pieces. I swear there were nights that I only got a couple hours of sleep. This time around I still am looking, and saving pieces that I see posted as I see them, but I know I don't have anywhere near as many pieces as some others. So, here's Puzzle Piece #27:

Oh yeah, and that Digital Photo Printing? It sure comes in handy when your daughter tells you the day before that she's Star of the Week and needs pictures of herself to bring to school. Arrrgggh.

Good Luck!!

Postie Carnival!!

The Postie Carnival is up!! Kudos go out to Marcus, who did an awesome job :)

It's Brandon's turn
Brandon is home sick today...I knew it was just going to be a matter of time before he got it too. My Dad came over late yesterday to listen to his chest since Brandon was coughing quite a bit and he told me that he sounded clear. I'll probably have my Dad listen again today just to be sure. I told Brandon this morning that just because he's home from school doesn't mean he's going to be on that computer all day. He said he wouldn't and that he was just going to rest. So after I ran the girls up to school, I came back and was ready for the day with my recruiting when I get a phone call from Kaitlyn telling me that she needs her recorder for music class today...arrggh...wasn't too happy about that. I asked her what time she needed it and she said, "Um, I have Music at 9:00." It was 8:45 when she called. I was tempted to not bring it to school (she has done this several times in the past and I finally told her that I am NOT going to run up every little thing that you forget at school. It is YOUR responsibility) but I knew that if I didn't bring it she'd be the only one that didn't have it so of course I ran it up there. So, already this morning I'm not in the greatest of moods and now I have a friggin' headache. But those kids....ya gotta love 'em right? he he

I need to get my ring sized
Bryan got me a beautiful diamond anniversary band for Christmas this year. I was a little bit surprised by it, though I had hinted that I wanted one. I just didn't think he would actually do it. LOL. The ring is a little bit too big...I wear it on my right ring finger, so tomorrow I'm going to get it sized. I can remember when we first went looking for diamond engagement rings. It seems like forever ago. We were so clueless as to what clarity meant, or even what type of ring we would buy. Back then yellow gold was quite popular. I don't think I even saw anything in white gold or even platinum, but yet again, we were clueless. We had one guy show us a ruby ring and said that it was quite popular as an engagement ring and I just looked at him like he was crazy. "I want a diamond ring, buddy, not some stinkin' ruby!!" We opted for a simple 1/2 carat round solitaire. It wasn't too big and wasn't too small - just perfect. I think around our 8th anniversary I upgraded to a 1 carat. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, you can bet there are lots of guys out there looking for that special ring. They need to check out diamondsandopals.com to get educated on the types of rings that are available. I wish we had.

I want a new template
I've been spending most of the day today scouring the internet and looking at different kinds of templates for my blogs. I really like the three column styles but I don't like any of the Blogger ones...they're just too blah to me. I tried using a template generator and got too frustrated with it. Brandon was showing me some stuff on Photoshop (Good Lord I had no idea he knew so much about it, I mean he is only 12 years old) and said that I can easily change the banner if I wanted to. I was on my celeb blog so he said, "Do you know how many pixels your banner is?" I was like ummmmmmm, I don't know, I'll have to check. He then plopped down in my chair, went into my template, scrolled down, and knew exactly where to find it. What the heck? How in the hell does know about this stuff? I mean, I consider myself somewhat computer savvy but he realy blew me away. He ended up getting some Photoshop flower brushes online (uh, watching him do this in lightning speed was impressive) and within a matter of minutes he designed a new banner for my celeb blog:

This is the original:

I think we've got ourselves a graphic designer on our hands. I asked him how he knew how to use Photoshop and what does he use it for exactly and he said that there are all kinds of tutorials online...(spoken with a look on his face like, duh Mom!!!) He uses Photoshop for making new Pokemon characters or something like that. He is a moderator for some Pokemon forum. Geez, I'm really kind of embarassed that he is already more advanced on the computer than I am. I think I'm jealous of his knowledge of Photoshop. I have it on my computer but give me a break, I don't know how to even work the thing except for cropping pictures (how embarassing). I told him that I wanted him to start making some new banners for each of my blogs and he's going to start working on them. He he he. I'm just in shock. But, I'm also very very proud of him. Okay, this Momma is done gushing :)

Make your own podcast
I download several podcasts and listen to them on my ipod while I'm at the gym. I subscribe to diffent types of news - local, national, and entertainment. I like The Onion News as well...funny!! Recently, as I've mentioned before, I've downloaded a podcast by this guy who was doing the Couch to 5k running program just like myself. It made me wonder how in the heck did he even make the podcast? I mean, he's just an average joe just like you and me. So I did some searching and found Mypodcast.com where you can make your own Free Podcast. It's free to join, you get unlimited bandwidth and storage, free podcast templates, and of course support. Pretty cool, huh? Check it out and make your own podcast today!

Oh boy...another one sick
Kaitlyn came down with a slight temp last night and has been coughing as well. I knew it was just going to be a matter of time before she was going to get sick as well. My Dad called to check on Maddie and I told him about Kait. He said that he would come over and listen to both of the girls' chests. Maddie was all clear, he heard just a little bit in her back but he said that he heard Kaitlyn wheezing. So, he had her do a breathing treatment as well. Of course, no basketball game for her today. She's not too happy about that.

2 1/2 weeks until Valentine's Day
I was at a card store recently and it was flooded with a sea of red and pink. Hearts everywhere, stuffed animals that kiss, and heart shaped boxes of chocolate. I was a little overwhelmed. So were a lot of guys there. Choosing Valetines Day Gifts can be daunting, but I found a site where you can order gourmet gift baskets. Their baskets are filled with the finest chocolates, nuts, wines, and fruit. Doesn't that sound romantic? You do have the option of creating your own personalized basket as well filled with all the goodies your sweetie loves. So you'd better not procrastinate too long or it will be too late...you certainly don't want to be in the doghouse on Valentine's Day.

Dubailand
My cousin works in Dubai as a Nurse. The money was a lot better over there than in his native Philippines. He was telling me about this super uber 3.8 billion dollar entertainment project going on there. It's called dubailand. The development is expected to be a full featured city divided into six theme worlds. It will be twice the size of Disney World. Get in now on the hot property as well. Make the investment and I'm sure you'll end up with a nice profit.

WTG Phoenix Suns!!
Holy jaboli...our incredible Phoenix Suns set a franchise record of 16 straight wins tonight. They beat the Milwaukee Bucks 98-90. Raja Bell was red hot with 27 points, he hit 7/11 threes....Way cool...Next game is Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ummmm Shirl & Keith...your Cavaliers are going down!! You guys have a great time at the game. Get Steve Nash's autograph for Kait...hee hee.

Happy Birthday Maurice!!
It's my father in law's birthday today. We were supposed to go over and celebrate tomorrow evening but it looks like we'll be staying home with Maddie. I don't think it's a good idea to be taking her out. Marsha and Maurice will be picking up Kaitlyn and Brandon tonight to spend the weekend with them. As you all know, my father in law is a bass fisherman and he takes pride in his bass boat. I thought maybe for his birthday we could get him some Boating equipment but let's be honest. The man has EVERYTHING imaginable for his boat. He already has a fish finder, depth finder, chart plotter, you name it...he's got it. But...if you need to find your bass fisherman any boating needs, then check out northeastsportinggoods.com. They also have EVERYTHING.

Mystery Shopping
I have been a Mystery Shopper for the last three years and have had several people ask how I got started. I thought I would post the information here. I was on a forum with other Moms and the topic of mystery shopping came up. They pointed me to a website that had tons of information... Volition.com. I pretty much was a lurker on the site for a while, gathering information and reading the boards, and all you do to get started is APPLY, APPLY, APPLY to mystery shopping companies. Volition.com lists all of these companies on their site so that's what I did. I applied with every company imaginable. After about two weeks of applying, I got my first assignment. A common statement made all over the boards was to NEVER pay to mystery shop. There are several companies out there that try to get you to pay them to get listed with their company and guarantee an assignment or companies who provide so called lists of mystery shopping companies that can guarantee an assignment for you as well. It's a bunch of crap. I have NEVER paid anyone or a company to mystery shop. I've had some really great assignments - very nice restaurants, an overnight stay at a hotel, grocery stores, my favorite retail stores, etc. I get reimbursed for everything and get a fee on top of it. If any of you have any questions, just leave me a comment and I'll get back to you.

Full House
I think it's funny how my girls just absolutely love the show Full House. I can remember watching this in the late 80's, early 90's. The girls actually programmed Tivo so that it will record every single time it's on. I have shown them some recent pictures of Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen and they were shocked. Maddie said that they look scary now. I tend to agree.

Wedding time
A family friend of ours will be getting married in a couple of weeks. I attended her bridal shower last weekend and she is just giddy with excitement. She's not nervous (so she says..lol) and is very very organized. She carries around her Wedding Planner everywhere she goes. They made out like bandits on all their gifts so far. It doesn't look like there's even much left on the Registry...and there are going to be well over 300 people at the wedding. After the wedding, they are taking an all inclusive honeymoon vacation. They are headed to Jamaica, mon. It looks beautiful. Sandy beaches, lush tropical gardens, the works. I love the whole all-inclusive package too...you don't have to worry about meals or snacks, transportation, entertianment, and activities associated with the resort. You don't even have to tip...it's included. Vacations.net are currently running specials where you can get up to 50% off packages. Their site is very easy to navigate and they give you in depth information on all of their packages, including beautiful photos of the resorts. Check it out!!

People are so rude....
I have been on the phone today doing some of my recruiting calls and I am just shocked at what just happened. I was calling a woman back who had attended a Question & Answer Session at our office yesterday. We administer a series of tests to see if they qualify to be a transcriptionist with us - a typing test, homonym test, and a spelling test. I wanted to give this woman her test scores (she passed) and to see if she was interested in going into a training session. Well, her husband answered the phone and I asked for her, he angrily said. No, she's busy. I told him that I wanted to give her the results from the Q & A Session she had attended yesterday and he said, "I've decided that she's not going to work. Even if it is at home." I was speechless. I wasn't really sure how to react to that. I said okay...can I leave my number and he said "Don't bother." How rude!! (Spoken in Stephanie Tanner fashion). I feel sorry for her. Obviously her husband is not supportive in this and I wonder if she even told him that she was going to a Q & A Session. Unfortunately I see this too many times...the woman trying to make some extra money and do something on her own, only to have the idea shot down by a spouse or husband who is not willing to let her do it. Okay. Rant over.

Go Pingo!!
I have several relatives that live in the Phillipines. Calling them from my home phone can be very expensive. Believe me, I know. I would call my Mom and Dad when they would visit over there and yikes!! My phone bill was astronomical. So, I started buying International calling cards online. I have found that Pingo.com has the best Philippines calling card rates. Did you know that if you sign up with them, you'll get four hours of free international calls? Woo hoo!! I'm going to tell my Mom about that deal and get her signed up as well. She can use those extra four hours of talking time...she calls over there every month!!

A coughless night
This was the first night all week that Maddie was able to sleep through the night. Poor thing, I'm sure she was just exhausted. Luckily the Albuterol treatments are working. She is also starting to be her old self again...she's traipsing around the house with my heeled shoes on and playing Mommy to her dolls. She even asked if we could go out to lunch today...Ichiban...which is one of her FAVORITE Japanese restaurants. She loves those Teppenyaki tables where they cook right in front of you. I told her not today but I promised her maybe next week when she's fully recovered. A friend of mine once asked her what her favorite place was to go eat and she proudly said Ichiban. My friend looked at me and asked what that was and I told her it was Japanese and she just laughed. She was expecting Maddie to say McDonald's or a place like that. Hmmmm...6 years old and already high maintenance. Ha!

Friday's Feast

Appetizer:
If you could take lessons to learn any musical instrument, which would you want to learn?

I would really like to learn how to play the guitar. I really envy people that can play. It certainly is a gift.

Soup:

Have you ever mistaken a person for someone else?

Honestly, I can't say that I have. But...I have had people come up to me many a time and ask if I'm so and so or "Aren't you so and so's sister?"

Salad:
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?

I would have to say a solid 8 1/2. It depends on what the secret is though. I threw a 40th birthday party for Bryan last year and that was a HUGE secret that I just kept to myself. He had NO idea so I was happy that I pulled it off.

Main Course:
What's the closest you've ever been to a dangerous animal?

Hmmm, dangerous animal. I can't really think of one. Probably an alligator when we lived in Florida.

Dessert:
When was the last time you lost your patience?

On Monday with my 12 year old son Brandon. Long story. That's a whole 'nother post!!

Valentine's Day
Oh that special day for sweethearts. Not sure what to get your Valentine? Should you send flowers? If so, what kind? Should you only send roses? Why not check out FlowerShop.com's blog for some tips on types of flowers and gift giving. FlowerShop.com is a family owned floral company and they are an FTD and Teleflora member florist, and because of that, that you get a 100% satisfaction guarantee with every order. I personally like their chocolate covered berries...

Yummm...don't they look scrumptious? I might have to order some of those for myself!! Didn't they just do a recent study on chocolate being good for you? LOL.

Maddie Update
Poor Maddie. She is doing a little better and her coughing has subsided a wee bit but unfortunately now her stomach is in all kinds of sorts and she basically threw up her dinner. I read that some of the side effects of the Albuterol is nausea, dizzyness, headache, so I guess it's a trade off. Her temp is still hovering around 101. Obviously no school tomorrow and she's bummed. She's whining about her homework (they get homework every Friday) and so I told her that I would have Brandon run by Mr. Gaillard's room and pick up her homework packet. She felt much better after that. She's resting in her room (hopefully she'll fall back to sleep soon) and now I can just take a little breather. I think I need a glass of wine.

Hey... you can win your own custom T-shirt!!
I found a site and entered a FREE Custom T-Shirt Contest. It's through Berda Compugraphix. They make Custom T-Shirts, sweatshirts, visors, caps, etcetera. All you do to enter is design your own T-shirt on their site and visitors can vote on the design. The contest is in the "Rate My .... Style". I can't wait for our Rocky Point trip
I am really looking forward to our trip in June. The kids are getting anxious about it too. We all had such a great time last year when we went. One of my favorite things to do while we were there was to walk along the beach and collect seashells and starfish. Each day the kids would have plastic buckets filled with the shells and starfish. I was more interested in the starfish since I have a collection of them on the window sill located right above our tub. The ones that I had gathered were a little bit smaller than the ones on the window sill so I started looking online to see where I could possibly buy some more. I couldn't believe how many sites I found that catered particularly to Starfish for crafts and weddings. I do remember going to a wedding reception where they used a variety of different sized Starfish as the centerpiece and placed them with some seashells. It did look very pretty. I've seen the smaller Starfish in a glass vase as a decorative piece too. There's just oodles and oodles of things you can do with them...I can't wait to get some more in Rocky Point. 4 months and counting...

Oh No!!!!
I just got back from the doctor with Madelyn and oh my goodness the poor thing has pneumonia. Last night was pretty rough...she was coughing up a storm. She didn't get very much sleep at all...and neither did I. I went over to my parents' house so that my Dad could look at her throat and he decided to listen to her chest as well. He said that he could her something in her chest and that I'd better bring her in. So, made an appt, and got her in at 10:00. Well, her doctor checked her throat, ears, and chest. Sure enough, he did hear something. He said that she also sounds like she has been wheezing....sheesh I felt so bad....I never heard her wheezing at all. So, he put her on a breathing treatment...Albuterol...for 10 minutes. She'd never had that done before and she just looked scared to death. After the 10 minutes on the nebulizer, her doctor came back and listened to her chest again. It was a little bit better so he said that he was going to send the nebulizer home with me and wrote a prescription for antibiotics and Albuterol. She is to have a breathing treatment every four hours. Oh my...I am sooo glad that I ended up taking her to the doctor. Poor baby. She's taking a nap right now on the couch.

Bryan's latest doctor's appointment
Bryan was diagnosed with Arthritis two years ago. We were shocked at the time...because he's relatively young, 38 when he was diagnosed, and I just wasn't sure how to handle that information. Fortunately for him, he does have a good Rheumatologist and has Remicade treatments every eight weeks. This has helped him immensely. He recently saw a Podiatrist for his heel pain and found out he has Plantar Fasciitis. Geez, what else is next? He's already taking so much medication for his Arthritis it makes me think about maybe going the alternative route for his Arthritis joint and Muscle Pain Relief. I found a site that specializes in alternative health supplements for Arthritis pain and I want to run it by Bry to see what he thinks.

Allergies, allergies, allergies
Oh my, Katilyn came today with a bad bout with her allergies. Her eyes were puffy and watery and she has been sneezing non-stop since she came home. I gave her some medicine and told her that she was not going to basketball practice tonight. She's so disappointed. Oh boy. So now I have two sickies....I hope I don't end up having a third.

Photagious!!
Okay...I am addicted. Addicted to another photo site. It's called Photagious. I love it. You can upload your pictures to their site and make slideshows...you're even able to embed them onto your blog. I am going to work on a slideshow tonight and put it up here so you can all see it. I found it really easy to just drag and drop my pictures and their site is easy to navigate around. You can easily combine photos, graphics, music, titles and animation. That's one thing that other sites don't have. I'm going to play around with it more tonight when I have time but this site is definitely a keeper!! Check it out. Start a free trial. I did!!

Why do they grow up so fast?
I just got a letter from Brandon's school telling us that Bryan and I have to attend a Junior High informational meeting in February. What???? I wasn't prepared to be thinking about this already. I mean it's only January...they don't start school until July. I guess I just have mixed feelings about him growing up already. I can remember his first day of kindergarten. Now he's a 12 year old with some attitude. Mind you, he is a really good kid, but there are the bouts that I have with him concerning his 'tude sometimes. Bryan said I need to just get used to it. Bleh..I don't think so. *Sigh* It's going to take me a while to adjust I suppose.

One home from school and a busy day ahead
Maddie is still sick, but at least her fever is down a little bit. It's right around 100. She's still coughing away. I hate it when they're sick. Wednesdays are my busy day...I spend a lot of time on the phone with my recruiting, then Kaitlyn has basketball practice from 5:00 to 6:00, Brandon has CCD class at 7:15, and I have choir practice tonight at 7:30. I have some transcription work to do as well before I'm gone for the evening on top of the laundry that still needs to be done. Arrrggghhh. I think I just need to get myself a Powerball ticket and cross my fingers. 240 million buckaroos certainly sounds good right now.

Photochop.com
Okay, I found a really cool site. It's called PhotoChop.com. What they do is edit your personal photos to your liking. For instance, I have a picture of all three of my kids which I absolutely love and unfortunately it's in a group shot. I've tried cropping it to where it's just the three of them but then it looks like I chopped the heads off of the people standing behind them. I'm going to submit my photo and give it a try. Check it out...they have some great examples of edited photos on their site. All for less than five bucks and for the most part are finished within an hour.

I have a little one who is sick...
My little Madelyn is sick...I just took her temperature about 20 minutes ago and it's 101. I suppose I'm not surprised...she's been coughing and had a stuffed up nose for the past couple days. She's just laying on the couch watching "Full House". Hopefully she'll get better soon.

Have you ever gone water skiing?
I used to go all the time with my friends. It was great....we'd go to KFC and get a bucket of chicken for our lunch, go to the lake, and just ski to our heart's content. I can remember the first time that I went...I was so frustrated. I just couldn't seem to get my balance on those darn skis. They'd take me out, I'd fall over, they'd swing over to pick me up and we'd start all over again. This went on another five times. After that I just said forget it...I'll try again later. Well, I got the gumption to try again and by the afternoon I was up and skiing. It was a great feeling. The next morning, however, I was so sore I couldn't believe it. Kaitlyn has expressed an interest in water skiing as well (not surprised since she is my tomboy) and maybe this summer we can use my father in law's boat and take her out. All we need is some water ski equipment. I found a blog online that had a lot of great information...I bookmarked a post that they had about teaching your children how to water ski....who am I kidding? I need it for myself too...LOL...it's been too long.

Pondering the move off blogspot
I'm trying to figure off if I should move off of blogspot and have my own domain. There are times when blogger has been really slow and I'm not a very patient person. LOL. I want to have more control over my blogs as well. I've been doing some research online and asking some Postie friends like Suni and Marcus (whom have both been ever so helpful) and I think I might just do it. I talked to Bryan about it and you know him...Mr. go with the flow so to him it doesn't really matter. Like I wouldn't do it just because he told me not to...he he. I don't know...it just takes a lot of work to move all three of my blogs over. See, I think I might be talking myself out of it...
